Joanna McGinn October 22 HATES SERVICE DOGS

When the elections have been decided we really have to contact the winners even tho they aren't sworn in yet but to get them to support the congressional inquirly into the service dog vs FAKES issue... please it's really as important since theses fake and Pit 'therapy dogs are getting 'service' iddeas laid on them although they afre NOT in any way freal SERVICE dogs... my bet is that they can't even open a beer can. AM I PISSED ??? YOU BET you can tell when I can't type well. I just wanna choke this joker on one hand and praise the landlord on the other
To most people, bringing home a new puppy is just a fun luxury. But for disabled people, like Iraq War veteran Jessie Johnson, a new dog is a crucial partner that...

  • Joanna McGinn in this case he deserves it.... it's a PUPPY, NOT a trained dog. DEven PTSD dogs, which I don't believe in because it's not healthy to 'assign a totem' that is a live thing... a smooth rock would be better, but real psychologists are willing to work with OTHER therapies that have INTRINSIC cues to calm some of them have been discussed in the groups and they have a better rate of success... and THAT is the ultimate goal. Man of the Pit victims have PTSD... having them have a Pit mix is therapy? What happens when it goes off??? On the client? What would that do to the progress of the therapy for the PTSD client? Wouldn't that throw them right back or worse? And if it's a child or wife? What would the shock and GUILT do to a PTSD client? THAT is not something I would wish on anyone. I want them HEALTHY.
  • Joanna McGinn Maybe this IS a VA that doesn't want to spend the time considering ALL the possibilities and has been sold a bill of goods by the Pit pushers.
  • Tom Shorette Im a Marine Corps vet, and they have BANNED "bully" breeds (I feel like such a tool saying that) on marine bases, Ooh Rah to that!!
  • Brenda Carr This guy states "“She can be trained to stand a distance away from me to keep people away.” And pray tell, how will that work?
  • Fataah Ewe' Seeing what pits really do, aside from being snoring farting warm bed partners, is depressing and hard to get out of your mind. Is killing an element of PTSD? Pits will sure give you some comeuppance.
  • James Hassinger Article actually says it is not a service dog, but he plans to train it to be a service dog. Sorry but that's not how service dogs work. Guess he is getting evicted.
  • Tom Shorette "Trained to keep people away".... by WHAT, ripping their limbs off, attacking with absolutely zero chance of ever stopping? And Ill bet this guy will be shocked when his pit does exactly that....to himself!
  • Carmie Bednar Why is it that every FAKE service dog is a pit bull? I just can't understand this. Where are all the fake goldens, labs, chihuahuas? So damn annoying!!!
  • Joanna McGinn Tom: that is exactly my concern.... what happens to his PTSD status THEN????? and what happens when the dog goes after his children or wife or a friend? Has anyone studied what GUILT (if they have that emotion) would impact his PTSD? In reality, no one seems terribly concerned about that element... which is supposed to be the focus of the issue... HIS 'diagnosis' of PTSD... or is it a SELF diagnosis?
  • Joanna McGinn James, he wouldn't be getting evicted nor would it be an issue IF the dog were a type that was under 20 lbs (an NO! I'm not volunteering one of mine!) IMO he's trying 1) to get a non-conforming dog and 2) avoid paying the deposit and the monthly charge..... just sayin'
  • Joanna McGinn Brenda Carr HOW can someone predict where their therapy status will be in the future.... clients are not the best estimator... and IMO, a goal should NOT be to keep people away but to re-integrate into society..... and is the goal to keep family members away. That ability to tolerate proximity issues should be using that trust in family circle to extend to trust levels in increasing circles. This whole thing sounds so hinkey to me... totally contra to the therapeutic schema I'm famliar with..... but then 'therapy comfort' dogs were unheard of when I was working with SED kids...... remember, when I developed a canine centered thematic curriculum I found that I had some students who had never talked about their attacks by family Pits and that fear had generalized to all dogs, including my 7 lb mixed terrier rescue Willie to such an extent that three of the students climbed out of the windows in TERROR... THAT was my first in-person clue about the psychological effects of dog attacks on children.
  • Sally House I doubt he would feel guilty. People like that are devoid of any sense of responsibility or empathy for others. No conscience.
  • Tom Shorette A pit or pit/mix is the LAST dog you would want for a "Service dog"!! I mean, seriously?!?! All they do is jump all over you, they're hyper, needy, and DANGEROUS. Worthless animals....pffff.
